About these pages

Why do these pages exist?

I created this area in December 1997 to act as a home for the Joanne Guest FAQ, which at the time didn't have an online presence. I subsequently took over as editor of the FAQ itself in August 1998.

This area also contains some other items relevant to the newsgroup alt.binaries.pictures.joanne-guest (a.b.p.j-g for short), such as the "Welcome to a.b.p.j-g" mini-FAQ (started February 1998).

What gets updated regularly?

Well, to be honest, "regularly" is something of a misnomer.

I'm always on the lookout for new websites to add to the list of Joanne Guest links, so that is the section that gets updated most frequently.

The downloadable versions of the full FAQ are updated every two months on average.

Why isn't there a "Jo news" section?

Partly because that's what the newsgroup is for <grin> but mainly because I don't have timely access to Jo news: by the time I get to hear of a forthcoming appearance, the chances are it's already happened.

Yes, I do belong to her official fan club, and yes that does mean I occasionally get some news snippets that don't appear elsewhere. If you want to hear about those snippets, JOIN THE FAN CLUB!

What gets posted to the newsgroup?

I post the Mini-FAQ every Tuesday, and the full Joanne Guest FAQ from time to time.

Generally speaking, I leave it to other people to post the pictures.

The site's a bit drab, isn't it?

Unfortunately, yes. For a start I'm not a graphic designer, and secondly I have to keep an eye on the bandwidth (see below). However, if you do have any ideas for improving the presentation of the site, please let me know.

Why aren't there any pictures on the website?

The short answer is: BANDWIDTH. This site sees between 12MB and 17MB of traffic every day without any pictures. Were I to start carrying pictures that figure could easily jump tenfold and my ISP would pull the plug on the site.

There are other reasons such as copyright restrictions (see the Advice to prospective webmasters in the FAQ) but the main reason is one of bandwidth.

Why is there no link from the home page?

When I started hosting these pages I decided that in order for someone to find the pages they would need to actively look for them. Putting a link on my home page would make it far too easy for someone to end up here "by accident".

Obviously, people could end up here by accident, regardless of the contents of my home page. And someone could be directed to my home page while looking for these pages. Well, that's life. I never made any claims to infallibility.

Do you sell picture CDs or any other Jo merchandise?

No, I don't. Sorry.

What about models other than Jo?

Well, they clearly exist <grin> but in general I don't have any information about them. On Usenet you might look in the alt.binaries.pictures.* or alt.fan.* hierarchies to see if you can find a suitable newsgroup; one good place to look for British models is alt.binaries.nospam.britbabes but please read their FAQ before posting.
